Puppy & Kitten Care

We look forward to providing a lifetime of care for your pet!

Even if you’re a seasoned pet owner, the first thing you should do after bringing your new pet home is schedule a veterinary visit. It’s important to start puppies and kittens off right with comprehensive wellness plans that support a healthy life. Our veterinarians will create an exam, vaccination, and parasite control schedule that will help your puppy or kitten have a first year of superior wellness.

Wellness Plans

Physical Examinations

We recommend that your new puppy or kitten have 2 complete physical exams between 8-16 weeks of age. These examinations provide us with a baseline of health that helps us determine overall health and when it’s best to administer necessary vaccines.

Vaccinations

Puppies and kittens have immature immune systems, which makes them vulnerable to disease and infection. Vaccines keep them protected and are given in a series.

Diagnostics

Puppies and kittens should be tested for intestinal parasites with a microscopic fecal exam. Kittens are recommended to be tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus during their first visit if testing had not currently been done.

We encourage you to discuss the following:

  • Spay/Neuter Procedure
  • Socialization
  • Wellness Visits & Vaccinations
  • Microchip Insertion & Proper Identification
  • Nutrition & Weight Management
  • Dental Care
  • Parasite Testing & Control
  • Grooming

Our hospital is proud to offer wellness plan packages that have been created to ensure that your pet gets off on the right foot.

Puppy Socialization Class

Early socialization is extremely important for the behavioral development of your puppy. We offer a 5-week socialization class for puppies 8-16 weeks of age, which is one of the most important time periods of socialization for your pet. This class offers even the experienced dog owner a wealth of new information about canine development and behavior. At this class all family members, including puppy, learn key points of behavioral training.

  • How your puppy thinks (pack hierarchy)
  • Proper dog handling techniques
  • Proper dog socialization
  • How to decrease/eliminate biting, chewing, digging etc.
  • Proper house training techniques
  • Grooming skills

The first class is a two hour orientation from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm without puppies and the next four classes meet from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm with puppies.

Please call 715-392-6211 to reserve your spot and put your new puppy on the path to proper behavior.

We also recommend Arrowhead Dog Training and Twin Ports Dog Training for your pet. These training sites offer puppy kindergarten classes, beginner level obedience training, and advanced obedience training.
