Dr. Jennifer Shamla
DVM & Co-OwnerI love being a part of a group of great veterinarians, technicians, receptionists, and assistants, working to provide the best patient care that we possibly can. I enjoy being a part of our patients’ and their owners’ lives from the puppy and kitten stages through the end of life care, and I am appreciative and humbled by the trust that our clients place in us.
A native of Brule, WI, Dr. Jennifer Shamla received her undergraduate degree in Biology and Broadfield Science from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1996. As an undergraduate she performed in the UWS Symphonic Band and Chamber Orchestra, as well as many other local music groups. Driven to help animals, Dr. Shamla continued her education at the University of Minnesota and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2000.
Following graduation, Dr. Shamla and her husband, Jon, returned to Superior where she has been employed at Superior Animal Hospital since July 2000. In 2020, Dr. Shamla became a partner and co-owner at the hospital. One of her favorite aspects of veterinary medicine is the close bond she forms with clients and their pets, and she enjoys treating patients through all of their life stages. Dr. Shamla has professional interests in dentistry and general practice.
In her free time, Dr. Shamla enjoys woodworking, home remodeling, music, and spending time with her family. She also volunteers her services at Douglas County Humane Society. Dr. Shamla and Jon have an adult son Thomas, daughter-in-law Lauren, and teenage son and daughter, Michael and Julia. Their home is shared with Walter, a senior golden retriever, a sassy redhead cat named Rhubarb, and a chill tabby cat named Bubbles.
